Corporate Tax Clearance Certificate Application
Tax clearance certificate is an important documents necessary for various corporate transactions by both individuals and corporate organisation in Nigeria. The Federal Inland Revenue Services (FIRS) governs the payments of tax relates matters and the issue of tax clearance certificate on behalf of the government. Different from the state Inland Revenue Service, i.e. Lagos Inland Revenue Service (LIRS).
Application for Company Tax Clearance Certificate are normally made to Federal Inland Revenue Services (FIRS), while applications for registered business - self employed, enterprenuer, enterprise and partnership are made to the State Inland Revenue Services.

Personal Tax Clearance Certificate Application
Application for individual or personal Tax Clearance Certificate can be made as an employee, working for a business or company (PAYE appliaction); Non-PAYE or Self Employed applicant, either by Self Assessment or Direct Assessment to the relevant relevant State Inland Revenue or Fedreral Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).
Employer (Business or Corporation) group applications for the employees will be processed through the registered tax office or station where its tax records are held.

Lagos State Electronic Tax Clearance Certificate
The Electronic Tax Clearance Certificate is a new system of issuing tax clearance certificates in Lagos State. It replaces the old paper and manually processed Tax Clearance Certificate.

The Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) is a unique number allocated and issued to identify a person (individual or Company) as a duly registered taxpayer in Nigeria.

Value Added Tax (VAT) Registration and Returns
A value-added tax (VAT) is a type of consumption tax that is placed on a product whenever value is added at a stage of production and at final sale. It is an indirect tax on the domestic consumption of goods and services, except those that are zero-rated (such as food and essential drugs) or are otherwise exempt (such as exports).
Under Nigerian law, the tax is charged at 5% of the value of the taxable goods and services.
Every business must register for VAT with the FIRS within 6 months of commencement of business in accordance with Section 8 of the Value Added Tax Act.
