The Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) is a unique number allocated and issued to identify a person (individual or Company) as a duly registered taxpayer in Nigeria.  Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) is to be used by that taxpayer alone.

To obtain a Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) as an Individual include:

  • Duly completed TIN Application Form
  • Form of identification - National Driver's License, International Passport, National Identity Card, Official (Staff) ID card, Certified copy of your full birth certificate
  • Utility bill

To obtain a Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) as Self Employed person

Not incorporated but has register the business name with the Corporate Affairs Commission:
  • Duly completed TIN Application Form
  • Application letter
  • Business Name Registration Certificate
  • Utility bill

  • Duly completed TIN Application Form
  • Memorandum & Articles of Association (MEMART)
  • Certificate of Incorporation

The original copy and 2 photocopies of each document, The originals are required for sighting only, one copy will be left with the FIRS, and  one copy will be stamped and signed by an FIRS official as evidence that you have made an application.
